- Avocado - from garden to plate 2
Avocado
I grew up on an organic avocado farm, this nutty oily delicious fruit was a major part of my diet from an early age. Now I live in Asia where it is eaten as a dessert.

Carambola
Carambolas, or star fruit, are tropical star shaped fruits that are enjoyed across the world. They can be eaten when ripe and overflowing with sweet juices, or tart green and unripe. These aren't my favourite fruits, but they certainly are prettily star shaped.

Mangosteen
The queen of fruit, delicate, fragrant and likably sweet. This tropical treat is often paired with durian, but is delicious on its own or transformed into a light summer dessert.
Recipes: Mangosteen yoghurt pannacotta - Native Raspberry - from garden to plate #7
Atherton Raspberries grow wild where I'm from. The fruit is floral, sweet and dry, lacking the sour aspect of a traditional raspberry. Regardless, they are delicious.

- Asparagus, from garden to plate 1
Asparagus seems to divide the population. Some love this quick growing sprout and will eat it fresh from the ground as a delicacy (me), others despise the mere thought of it. Perhaps scarred from one too many servings of putrid canned asparagus?

Beetroot, sweet and earthy. Ruby red. An acquired taste.

Beetroot leaves betray the freshness of the bulb. Often the wilted specimens are removed. Best to buy beetroot with fresh leaves, but don't throw them away!

Silverbeet, I think it is even better than spinach.

- Carob Molasses Cake with honeyed ricotta
Carob Molasses
Made from the pulp of the carob fruit. It is sweet and deep and delicious in its own right. Please don't use it as a substitute for chocolate, everyone will be disappointed.

Dulce De Leche
This south american milk caramel is simple to make and addictive!
