Asparagus seems to divide the population. Some love this quick growing sprout and will eat it fresh from the ground as a delicacy (me), others despise the mere thought of it. Perhaps scarred from one too many servings of putrid canned asparagus?

Beetroot leaves betray the freshness of the bulb. Often the wilted specimens are removed. Best to buy beetroot with fresh leaves, but don’t throw them away!
